The Resilient Intelligent Systems Lab (RISLab), directed by Professor Nathan Michael, is part of CMU’s Robotics Institute. The goal of RISLab is to improve the performance and reliability of autonomous systems that operate in challenging, real-world environments.

RISLab mitigates the effects of uncertainty on autonomy subsystems including control, planning, perception, mapping, and coordination with research that leverages ideas ranging from classical controls to reinforcement learning and information theory.
